Sika Scope Wrap Dress Sew - Along #6> Preparing The Underlining For The Bodice.

Hello again! busy day it is! now this post comprises of :
1. preparing the bodice underlining
2. shaping the bodice

BUT because i'm lazy and oh so tired, I'll suggest you follow the princess seam tutorial here for tips on cutting your bodice underlining, or better still (what I normally do), place the cut out pieces of your actual princess curve pieces over your lining fabric, cut and stitch together.

Fold the back piece in two. Mark out your apex, empire and bodice lengths. Mark out you body measurements across each of these points, and don't forget to include your seam allowances at the sides. Here I used 1.5'' mark out your armhole.
cut out.

place this cut out back piece over the frontal piece one at a time. leave out your wrap allowance (watch and see where the demarcation begins in the photo below). here I used 4.5'' for my wrap allowance.

cut out and the frontal piece should look like this

place the cut out frontal piece over the second piece and cut. Here is what it would look like  later on...

place over your underlining and cut leaving about half an inch all over the underlining. slash out about 2'' from the diagonal wrap neckline to create a facing with the actual fabric

do the same on the back underlining

replace with your actual fabric in the same shape but leaving half an inch all round it...
apply fabric stay (I used the fusible kind
)

replace and sew...

sew beginning from the center outwards for both sides on the back neckline...

that's all! watch this space for the next post!

xoxo,
Onnari.

Hi Onnari! Its been a while, seems you ve abandoned us here. I know you've been active on Nairaland(*winks). Seems your thread on Nl has been hijacked and its now a thread for professionals. Anyway I ll keep following your blog and posting my comments here.
I love the way you explained the Sika dress. Never seen a Nigerian blog like this. Please keep up the good work.
God bless you.

@shade yes it has and no I didn't abandon you guys! The blog's going through some minor transformations :) as for the sew along, participants were more 'on it' than on the blog as all the people who wrote in to say they were in just disappeared so I focused on the nairaland crowd lol thank you so much and appreciate you *hugs*
