Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your braids!

Let me break it down like this – I love am obsessed with braids. I began wearing braids since like, 1995 but actually began DIY- ing or should I say DIM – ing (do it myself :-) my braids circa 2003. Unluckily for me though, I didn’t inherit the ‘good’ hair genes in my family so I have been extra careful on my braids journey with my hair  and hair line so it doesn’t recede or totally disappear -  scary thot!

I use a variety of hair care products mostly natural, such as shea butter (in its natural form), coconut/olive oil, aloe vera (the plant), and the Organics range for relaxing and treatments. There are a couple others, so I’ll share them subsequently. I like the thought of eggs but since I can’t stand the slimy feel or the smell even, I opt for avocado as a source of protein for my hair. Protein does wonders on the hair.
For my present braids I got three and a half packs of Darling braids which is equivalent to seven packs of Xpression hair pieces. Yeah, it’s really twice the size but I prefer using xpressions for micro braids. The texture, flow and feel work better for me on micro braids.
Here are the treatments I used pre and post braids, as well the hair piece.

However, since I’ve been sporting micro braids for a while, I decided to go jumbo albeit a tad smaller and here are my muses J
